Review of Combat the Fat Fitness Program
71"Combat the Fat" is a fitness and weight loss program by a former soldier in the U.S. Army. He spent a good part of his time working fellow soliders to help them meet weight standards and pass physical fitness tests.
Of course, those weight standards in the Army are nothing like they are in the United States Marine Corps. (Just had to throw that in for good measure.)
That's not what this is about, though. This is about fitness and weight loss. YOUR fitness and weight loss. Jeff Anderson can help you do it, and he is an expert.
Jeff's plan obviously takes a military approach. That's his background, so it suits him, and it's effective marketing. People view those in the military as generally in top physical condition. The aura is there, and it has appeal to both men and women, no matter what their current physical condition is.
Jeff makes the point on his website (which incidentally can be found by clicking from http://www.internetdietreviews.com/ctf/go.php) that although the military theme runs throughout, there will be no one shouting in your face at "O-dark-thirty", no forced marches with 60 lb packs, and no pushups with your face in the mud every time you go down.
I have had a preview of his package and let me tell you, it is outstanding (that came out wrong!). There is the main manual with all the basic information, a workout manual showing all the exercises, and a nutrition guide.
Yes, Jeff is very thorough. In the main book, he discuss 8 metabolic factors and how they help you lose weight. I like his analogy about battles and war. He says that although you may win battles from time to time, by losing a few pounds or eating right for a few days, you have still not won the war if you are not where you want to be physically. The approach is very easy to follow and entertaining as well.
The workout guide is 87 pages of diagrams, photos, and more. He takes you through all the exercises you need to know, as well details the exact workouts you need to be doing. There are a ton of pages of tracking sheets you can copy and use throughout the process. Full-color and easy to follow.
The nutrition manual is something you don't see a lot, but I'm glad it was addressed. I mark things down when they only hit exercise OR nutrition. I love programs that do both. It's 46 pages of knowledge, nutrition info, daily tips, shopping lists and more. Jeff is anti-calorie-counting and more about portion control. He "orders" you to eat dessert daily. "Sir, yes sir!"
I will warn you that he is not big on carbs. While this is not strictly a low-carb diet, Jeff recommends more protein and less carbs than you are probably currently eating. In addition, he classifies carbs differently, so don't expect to go on an Atkins-sponsored bacon binge. He discusses "wet" vs. "dry" carbs which was a way I had never looked at carbs before.
Overall, I like the program. It's well-rounded, based on very healthy principles, and engaging.

Very useful weightloss information
Sound advice. Thank you.
A lot of of need a good disciplened approach like this. It's good that the diet comes from both a nutrition and exercise perspective.
Nice review but it sounds a bit to military for me though maybe that is the only approach for some people
thanks for the tips and advice...
Good review - I've never seen a fat military person. Worth a look.
Nice post! What I like most about Combat the Fat is the free live answer and question sessions that Jeff does. This is so that if there's any problem at all or any nagging question about something you can get the answer straight from the source.
I have used this progam and I got great results from it. You can read about my results and why I like this program at: http://combatingfat.blogspot.com/
Tips for Weight Loss Success
Increasing numbers of people around the world are experiencing weight problems but a foolproof easy weight loss program does not yet exist; many good methods do exist but it will depend on the user as to how effective any of these will ultimately be. It is important to be aware of just how harmful being overweight or obese is to health and many serious health conditions are caused as a result of excess weight.
You only have to look online to see the number of easy weight loss systems available but what most people forget to mention is how important the individual losing the weight is! Losing weight can be for health reasons, self image reasons or both but whatever the reason, you must be sure that you're doing it for your benefit and not another person.
Many people forget that a number of factors must be included in any weight loss program from the amount of physical activity involved down to the type of food eaten, when, and how often. Some people are of the opinion that losing weight quickly is the best way but this often causes other medical problems like heartburn or even anemia and creates unrealistic targets.
To lose weight easily often means losing it slowly; for instance, one pound per week is only 500 calories a day and if some exercise and dieting is combined this can be achieved without any health implications. The best diets are where you do not give up foods you enjoy, just cut back on the amount because as soon as you stop eating those foods, the likelihood of the diet continuing is reduced.
Stress can be a large determining factor in how much food is consumed and many women will eat more because they feel low or insecure and when they put on weight they feel worse which continues the cycle. Bad eating habits are a real issue that can cause diabetes, cancer, various heart problems and high blood pressure. Excess weight can be removed with many easy weight loss methods available today but unless the subject is prepared to change their ways, dieting on its own will never be the answer.
The success of a weight loss program also relies on the mental attitude of the person involved so if they stay happy and do not get stressed they will more likely lose the weight they desire. The one thing that has shown to be true no matter what you do in life is that being positive about something is more likely to make it happen. The great thing about weight loss is the extra energy you feel and how much more positive your outlook is to life in general which obviously has an impact on self-esteem as well.
Once the effects of an easy weight loss program are felt by the dieter, they feel more positive about the future and realize the result they want to achieve is possible.
- Protein Rule Number 2
I liked this bit from page 9 of the Combat the Fat Nutrition Guide. I've always thought protein was important. It's also important when you take it. Protein Rule #2 : Consume 2 SERVINGS Of Protein Immediately After Your Workouts When you train hard with a program like you’ll be using in the Combat The Fat program, you’re causing microfibrial damage to your muscle cells. Don’t worry...that’s a GOOD thing because you’re training your muscles to build up stronger to be able to handle the extra workload you’re throwing at it. That repair process will help you build more muscle, increase in strength, AND burn more fat. And IMMEDIATELY after a workout, your muscles are BEGGING for some additional “support” to begin the recovery process so they need MORE PROTEIN than usual. While your body can usually only break down and use about 30-40 grams or so of protein per meal, it can actually handle up to about 25% of your total daily protein requirement in its “SUPER-NEEDY” state right after your workouts. So by consuming 2 SERVINGS of protein IMMEDIATELY after your workouts, you’re supplying your muscles with the proper supply of amino acids it needs to maximize its recoveryRead our full Combat the Fat review here.
- What you need to know about Hoodia extracts
Products to control weight are numerous and every week there seems to be yet another 'quick fix' solution although the ‘Hoodia' plant could be the exception; many people are hoping this will be the answer to their ongoing problem. As soon as the word spread amongst the weight loss industry, Hoodia weight loss products started to be promoted heavily; each year the number of people becoming overweight is increasing so the market for this plant is huge. But, do you know why this strange plant is in such demand or even where it comes from? Well it is actually a cactus-like plant with 13 species. One species in particular, Hoodia Gordonii, is being investigated for use as an appetite suppressant. It grows in the Namib and Kalahari deserts in South Africa, having the unique attribute of reducing or even eliminating appetite. In fact, this cactus is so good at reducing the appetite that it is considered, by medical science, as the most effective appetite inhibitor on the planet. This is probably why it is in great demand. Scientists actually researched the cactus plant in depth over a period of years using volunteers to test its effectiveness. One particular experiment included a team of people from the BBC who were only given a single Hoodia leaf to eat. The entire team wanted nothing else to eat or drink for the rest of the day. The best part about using Hoodia weight loss products is there is little or no chance of any side effect and so far none have been found. On the other hand, regular weight loss products have been shown to cause irregular heartbeats and digestive conditions. Another benefit of using products containing extracts of this plant, is that users claim they do not feel tired even though they are not eating, as it provides a normal energy levels for the entire day. Nevertheless, whilst it is being taken, the user should still drink plenty of fluids and eat a healthy diet. The purpose of the Hoodia weight loss pill is not to starve yourself but to control unnatural and unnecessary food cravings; however, just because a person doesn't feel hungry, they still need to eat, otherwise their health will suffer. Large numbers of people are now seeing the health and other benefits of using Hoodia extracts. Be prepared to pay a premium for any weight loss products that use real extracts as the production costs involved are high. You can find many companies selling Hoodia weight loss products online but be aware that if they are cheap, they are probably not genuine. Buying cheap Hoodia extracts is not only false economy as you cannot produce this product cheaply, but you do not actually know what is being used as the substitute.
- Acne Treatment
While it's not strictly diet related, I wanted to point out that I found a great post about controlling acne, if you're interested. The whole blog is good, but check out this posting: http://www.topacnetreatment.com/acne/215-basic-facts-about-controlling-acne.php
